    Blairsville, the county seat of Union County, is located in the Nottely River valley in the North Georgia mountains just east of the junction of state borders with North Carolina and Tennessee. Blairsville and Union County are strategically located within two hours drive of Atlanta, GA, Chattanooga, TN, and Greenville, SC. Our central location gives us excellent access to Southeastern U.S. markets, international airports and deep water ports.

   north, to GA 515/U.S. 76 north into Blairsville.
•  From Chattanooga: Take I-75 north to
   U.S. 64/U.S. 74 east, to U.S. 129 south into Blairsville.
•  From Greenville: Take U.S. 23 west to U.S. 76
   west into Blairsville.

Major Highways/Road Network

    Blairsville is served by the "Appalachian Developmental Highway Corridor A (GA 515)", a 4-lane divided highway built to near-interstate highway specs. This highway serves as a high-speed freeway to Atlanta, 114 miles south-southwest. GA 515 connects to I-575 and into I-75. Highways serving Union County include: US 19, 76, and 129, GA 2, 11, 60, 180, 325, 348, and 515. Total road mileage in Union County in 2003 was 555.2, with 404.25 miles paved. There were 86.99 miles of federal and state routes, 461.55 miles of county roads, and 6.66 miles of city streets. Union County ranked 65 of 159 counties in percentage of roads paved with 72.8% paved.


    From Blairsville via GA 515, it is 119 miles to Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, which was the world's busiest in number of scheduled commercial airline flights. The Hartsfield Terminal complex handles more than 2,400 arrivals and departures daily. There are same-plane flights to 180 cities, 150 by non-stop flights from Atlanta. Eighty percent of the nation's population is within two hours flight-time. Atlanta is the main hub for Delta Air Lines.

    Chattanooga's Metropolitan Airport is 95 miles west-northwest of Blairsville via U.S. 129/U.S. 64/I-75. Commercial airline service with 44 flights daily includes: American Airlines/American Eagle, Delta Air Lines/ASA, Delta Air Lines/Comair, Northwest Airlines/Northwest Airlink and U.S. Airways Express.

Blairsville Airport
    The Blairsville Airport is a state regional airport that recently completed a $3-million expansion to extend its paved and lighted runway to 5,000 x 100 feet. It is located three miles southeast of Blairsville at latitude 34.51.195 north and longitude 84.0.102 west. Thirty-one new T-hangers were completed in 2006 and the airport is in the process of building a new terminal facility with direct access to GA 515/US 76. Savannah, GA
    Specializing in the handling of container, reefer, breakbulk and RoRo cargoes, the Port of Savannah is home to the largest single-terminal container facility of its kind in North America, comprised of two modern, deepwater terminals and moving millions of tons of containerized cargo annually. The Port is 365 miles from Union County and easily accessible by rail or motor transport.

Charleston, SC
    The Port of Charleston, 330 miles from Union County, is the sixth largest U.S. container port by cargo value – $61 billion in goods move through the port annually – serves 40 steamship lines, including all top 20 carriers to more than 150 countries worldwide. It, too, is easily accessible by rail or motor transport from Union County.
